Godly Play Stories
These videos by the Godly Play Foundation help us to see the stories. But adults, you have work to do as well! Make sure children are ready to hear the story. Have them seated on the floor or on a chair without distractions and make sure you have spent time listening to them, and perhaps holding them close to you. Then, when the time is right, you can watch the video. Once it is finished, ask your children ‘wondering’ questions. Here are some good wondering questions:
I wonder which part of the story you liked best?
I wonder which part of the story was most important?
I wonder where you are in the story?
I wonder if any part of this story helped you come close to God?
I wonder if there’s anything in this room you would like to bring to the story?
Give children time to think and respond. They don’t always respond verbally! If you can, once you have wondered, allow some space for a creative response - make sure your paper and pencils and other creative materials are easily accessible.
